Strawberry Joy

What a fine summer day this has been. This morning I met up with painter Diane Dubreuil and went to a farm in East Wales, Maine  http://roaringbrooknurseries.com/home/ to paint. We had picked strawberries there last week and we both agreed we needed to go back with our easels. The landscape is lovely and they have strawberries now and raspberries and blueberries for picking later. This morning was perfect. We went quite early because we knew that the scene would be enhanced with the early light. We both loved how the moisture in the air and the early light made the background hill soft and blue. There were several pickers there getting there baskets filled before the heat of the day. We painted as fast as we could because we could tell it was going to be a scorcher. The smell of the ripe berries hung in the air like perfume. I could not resist. After Diane and I had lunch, I went back to the farm and picked 6 quarts! We both got paintings we are happy with and I got a belly full of berries to boot!

Glaziers daughter is my daughter in law..... Would love for you to do a water color of my husbands commercial fishing boat if you ever get a chance to come to New Bedford MA. Your paintings are wonderful and truly enjoy how you capture the moment

Thank you for your lovely compliment Karen. New Bedford looks like a wonderful place to paint. I'll make sure to let you know if I am coming your way.
